A Little History
For five years, we ran a successful retail furniture and gift gallery in Charlotte, NC. Opened in 1996, Himal Home Gallery featured one-of-a-kind rustic and provincial home furnishings from near and far. The award-winning gallery presented a rich blend of hand-crafted furniture, decorative and practical home items. Hand forged iron furniture, such as canopy beds and sleigh beds, featured prominently in our store, and soon became a best-selling line. In 1997, Himal Home Gallery went online and presented an array of best-selling home accent items to internet buyers. It quickly became apparent that the demand for quality wrought-iron furniture was much greater than we anticipated. Carolina Rustica was our response to this demand. In 2000, we relocated our Charlotte store and relaunched as Carolina Rustica, and we have been growing nonstop ever since. Starting with iron beds and furniture, we grew the business with fine suppliers like Charleston Forge, Lexington Home Brands, Century Furniture, and more. At the same time, we added complimentary lighting lines such as Hubbardton Forge, Hinkley Lighting, Currey and Company, Fine Art Lamps, Minka Lavery, and more. We now proudly represent over 75 lines of furniture, upholstery, lighting, and ceiling fans. Our most recent additions include AICO Furniture, Vanguard Furniture and Hickory White. We have received significant press coverage over the last few years with regards to our small-business growth, our use of technology, and our blending of a brick-and-mortar store with our web business.
