Company Information
Delphi was founded in 1972 on the belief that making art glass projects should be easy and rewarding for everyone, from budding craftspeople to established fine artists.
At Delphi, we pride ourselves on our high level of customer service and expert knowledge about the crafts our customers enjoy. Not only do we sell materials, but our representatives enjoy the glass arts themselves, which means you'll always deal with a caring and experienced information resource. We also think it's important to give back to the art community, and so we have contests, festivals, and special seminar events throughout the year, in our store in Lansing, Michigan and online.
Company History
The story begins nearly 40 years ago with future founder Dan Daniels and his dream to take art glass out of the studios and into people's homes. Dan first discovered the potential of glass while attending Michigan State University, but quickly realized there was no company willing to address the needs of beginners like himself. In 1972, Dan with the help of his brother Dennis and wife Helene founded Delphi Glass to serve new-comers as well as more experienced crafters.
From a handful of products sold in the family's garage, Delphi Glass now offers over 30,000 art supplies, the country's largest selection of glass, classes and workshops. Its retail store and distribution center, the Delphi Creativity Center, is 45,000 square feet. The Delphi Glass catalog features over 350 pages of products, supported by an even wider selection on its website. The site also includes an online community, instructional streaming videos and Artist Gallery where customers can buy and sell finished projects and become inspired by others art.
Delphi Glass was voted Lansing's Business of the Year in 1984 and named an INC 500 company twice. Delphi believes in giving back to the community. It returns a percentage of its profits each year to benefit art education programs. They also believes in supporting hobbyists and artisans buy building relationships that benefit the entire art community. Besides offering wholesale and education programs, Delphi partners with many other leading companies to help bring in new quality products or to strengthen programs aimed at supporting professional artists and their work.
Delphi Glass was the first company to make art glass accessible to everyone. Founded on the belief that art should be fun and rewarding, its simple vision has met with great success for over 35 years. Its slogan remains, "Delphi Makes It Easy."
Delphi's Arts in Education Program
Delphi was founded on the basis of teaching artists and crafters how to make their own stained glass projects. Since then, we've expanded to include a variety of creative arts. In support of this effort, Delphi returns a percentage of our profits each year to benefit art glass educators around the U.S.
When you make a purchase at Delphi, you are helping to fund innovative glass art programs, like the one as Saint Peter's Home for Boys in Detroit, Michigan. Educators have found art to be instrumental in student development and stated: "When the student artist learns their work is important, they learn they are important. When they feel important, they believe they can succeed in life."
Delphi also supports arts education with special services to K-12, college and university art teachers. If you know an art teacher who could benefit from the services Delphi provides (discounts, free lesson plans, etc.) ask them to contact Delphi's Schools and Institutions Department at 888-322-3336 or visit DelphiGlass
